His Eminence Metropolitan Nikolai of Eastern America and New York and First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad (with headquarters in New York), was solemnly welcomed at the New Gracanica Monastery, the seat of our diocese.
The solemn welcome was organized by His Eminence the Archbishop of New Gracanica-Chicago and Metropolitan of the Midwestern America, Longin (Krco), and the Very Venerable Archimandrite Sergije (Puskar), abbot of the holy monastery and secretary of the diocese, with a large number of clergy of the diocese.
After visiting the New Gracanica monastery , Metropolitan Nikolai also visited the monastery of Saint Sava in Libertyville, where he venerated and served a prayer service before the relics of Saint Mardarije.
The next day, the Divine Liturgy was celebrated in the cathedral church of the Protection of the Mother of God cathedral of the ROCOR midwestern diocese in Chicago, where everyone participated on the occasion of the anniversary of the repose of His Eminence Archbishop of Chicago and Midwestern America, Peter (Lukyanov), a great friend of the Serbian Church and people.
